Early start today. Up at the crack of sparrow fart to set off for Mimosa Rocks again, where we will stop for our last night before heading home.
Stopped for brunch in the cute little town of Cann River. Daph and Ern felt at home in the Relics Café and Old Wares Store. Looking at the motley crew of pointless souvenirs strewn over a makeshift table:
Ern: “Maybe we could find some ‘tosh’ to buy someone for a gift”.
Meanwhile, Daphne is in a world of her own, marvelling at the craftsmanship of the limited-edition hand-painted miniature cottages that Ern thinks are tosh:
“Ooooh, these are soooo cute.”
Daphne couldn’t decide between the one with the cute swan out the front or the one with the adorable cat asleep on the bench, or “Ooooh, this one has baby ducklings in a pond!” Ernest bought Daphne all three toshy souvenirs.
Huey Lewis and the News’ greatest hits CD was purchased from the Cann River Petrol Station and became the singalong soundtrack for the ensuing journey, which was much more pleasurable than the near-death experience when we were last in this area. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the roads are empty... and Huey is belting out some crackers.
Ern: “I’m happy to be stuck with you.”
Daph: “I’m happy to be stuck with you too.”
