Strawberry Picking and Skateboarding

We had a lovely day, driving to Bargara. We got tailed by a fellow Kombi owner, who pulled in behind us at the strawberry picking farm in Bundaberg. Not for strawberries, but just to say hello and to take a photo to post on the Bundy Volks Facebook page. Ern loves talking about all things Kombi and took pride in showing his newfound friend around our home.

We popped into Mon Repos to check out the turtle conservation centre, but it was closed for refurbishment. Daph was looking forward to visiting the beach after dark to watch the turtles laying their eggs, but there are no tours until next month. Despite her usual nonchalance to rules and regulations, she decided against sneaking in due to the CCTV.

Onwards to the caravan park, which was massive! Nearly two hundred sites but only one amenity block?! It was a large amenity block with superb facilities and piped music so you could poop to Def Leppard. Fabulous. But it felt like a two-kilometre walk for Daph every time she needed to empty her, often full, bladder.

And, for the first time in months, it rained! Unlike the rain in Innisfail, this rain was most welcome. Daph wished she had a pair of gumboots to splash in the puddles. It felt good to be grateful for the rain. Maybe it’s the daily meditation that’s helping Daph with gratitude. Or maybe it’s just that she was sick and tired of the humidity.

In addition to our daily meditation, we have started doing morning breathwork to boost our alpha brain waves. Daph is sure it looks and sounds highly suspicious to fellow campers... Daph and Ern retreat inside the Kombi, curtains drawn, followed by ten minutes of heavy breathing. If the Kombi’s rocking, don’t come knocking!

We got visited by the friendly neighbourhood rainbow lorikeets, who had no shame in entering our humble abode without an invitation to check out what food we had on offer. Cuteness to the max.

And then Ern couldn’t resist taking his skateboard for a lap of the skate park. Ern stated his board wasn’t the correct design for a skate park, and that’s why he couldn’t utilise it to “turn some tricks”. Daph suspects it was more to do with him losing his skills in this department due to old age.
