OH! MY! HEART!

Daph: “This is the best day EVER!!

*Adding an afterthought of...

“Apart from the day we got married, of course.”

Daph was ready to headbutt any kid that got in the way of her quokka interactions, but there was no need. There are quokkas everywhere! Stepping off the ferry, we picked up our hire bikes and set off for a quick exploration of the island, as our accommodation wasn’t ready until later in the afternoon. Within two minutes of setting off, we spotted our first quokka. Daph was beside herself with excitement. Jumping straight off her bike and lying face down in quokka poo to get up close and personal with the cutest critters on Earth.

This is heaven for Daph. We’ve only been here a couple of hours and Daph’s phone is already full to the brim with quokka photos. And we still have another day to go!

The apartment is just beautiful, overlooking the beach. We are currently warming our cockles by the fire, perusing the brochures, and planning tomorrow’s bike ride to take in as much of this stunning island as we can in the time we have here.

Ern: “Ooh! There’s a spa where we can get a massage.”

Daph: “Don’t be cutting into my quokka time!”

What a wonderful day!

Rottnest Island is the most magical place. Diverse landscapes, crystal clear azure water, historical buildings and, of course... QUOKKAS!!

After a hearty breakfast whilst watching the sunrise over the beach from our window, we set off on our bicycles so Daph could get yet more quokka selfies (because one hundred and sixty-five photos weren’t enough, apparently).

The wonderful thing about this place is that there are no cars. You can ride your bikes over the lustrous hills, around the lakes, and to all the beautiful beaches without a care in the world... other than the burning lactic acid in your legs and the rain showers you might get caught in.

We got caught in the pouring rain during our morning ride. Daph was loving life so hard she didn’t feel the burn, or care about the rain, and raced from here to there like an excited kid in a candy store. Feeling like Rose from Titanic, she whizzed down the hills with the water spraying on her face and the wind in her hair. Daph laughed so hard that she almost fell off her bike. Just magical.

Ern was reminded of riding his bike home from school in the pouring rain, looking forward to getting cosy when he arrived home. Doing his best to keep up with Daph, and despite struggling with the build-up of lactic acid, he kept a smile on his face too. How could he not when Daph looked so special?!

We stopped back at the apartment to get out of our soaking wet clothes and warm up by the fire. Then the sun came out again.

Daph: “Come on! Let’s go again!”

Ern wishes he had asked where to before they set off. Daph took them on a twelve-kilometre round trip of more up-and-down hills and riding through puddles than his poor legs could take. Followed by more rolling around in quokka poo to get the perfect selfie.

The quokkas were out in droves this afternoon. Daph was in heaven and got her fill of quokka selfies. She had so many heart orgasms today, she will sleep well tonight.

Ern ended the day limping.

Daph ended the day looking for jobs on the island because,

“I WANNA LIVE HERE!!”

We were sad to say goodbye to Rottnest Island this morning. It’s been a full-on-fest of elevated emotions to the max. Enough to power up a lifetime of good feelings. Just wonderful.

The Universe has answered Daph’s wishes.

We are so grateful that we were able to do this during current world events. It’s amazing what you can manifest when you put your heart and soul into it.
