Over and Out

We know we’re almost home when we see Ern’s brother, Weylin, on the side of the road pointing a speed gun at us.
Ern’s brother is the policeman on the “stop it or cop it” anti-speeding billboards along the highway. The drivers weren’t deterred by Ern’s brother. All the idiots were out in droves. The torrential rain continued, but everyone was in such a hurry to get somewhere that they didn’t have time to slow down and drive safely.
We haven’t missed the calibre of drivers here at home. The conversation turned to whinging about knob-jockeys on the road, and the state of the M1, which is in worse condition than the dirt road into Point Quobba.
Daph missed a few photo opportunities on the way home because Ern did his usual flyby, “Oops, too late” jobs.
Ern: “If they want to see wombats in the outback, then they can get off their arses and go and see them themselves.”
True. But a photo would’ve been nice.
We made it home safely and still haven’t finished unpacking. The last two days have been spent catching up with the kids and catching up with washing. What next? Who knows? Daph and Ern are waiting for the next sign from The Universe before deciding.
One thing we have learned from our latest adventures is an appreciation of the vastness of Australia. A five-hour drive is nothing to us now. And there is so much to explore within a few hours’ drive of where we live. The last time we were home, we had planned to explore the beautiful Central Coast and continue to live life like one big holiday. Unfortunately, the bushfires stifled those plans. Hopefully, this time, we can pick up where we left off and continue our adventures around home. If only this bloody rain would stop!
Until then, Daph and Ern... over and out.
