Head of Bight

We made it across the Nullarbor and back to semi-civilisation in one piece with no hiccups. We had to apply online to cross the border, which we expected. So, with approval paperwork at the ready, we approached the border control ready to get drilled, but... there was no one there. The queue back into Western Australia was long, with the Border Police meticulously checking everyone wanting to head west, but they don’t seem to care about those going into South Australia. Everyone trusts a WA resident, so there’s no need to check our paperwork.
We stopped off for a break from the long tedious drive at the Head of Bight for some whale spotting. We were blessed to witness at least four mummy whales and their calves lolling around in the water. Magnificent! Not much else to report on the drive other than spotting our second cyclist across the deserted plain, who waved cheerfully as we overtook him. It’s a thing. People cycle across the Nullarbor! It takes us four days in the Kombi! Champs!
Then onwards to Ceduna for the night in sub-zero temperatures. Packing up this morning was mighty uncomfortable, as the awning was covered in sheet ice. Daph’s fingers were incapable of functioning correctly. The Kombi coped much better than Daph and started up first time. Love her work! Daph is wearing four layers of clothing today and is still freezing her cockles off. South Australia in the Winter is a harsh place.
