Half way across Australia

We made it back to “halfway across Australia” again, and home seems a lot closer now. We had originally planned to do a lot more sightseeing on our trip home. We’d planned to go back to Whyalla to see the cuttlefish, through Victoria along the Great Ocean Road, and up through the magnificent NSW south coast, with lots of beautiful places in between. But, due to our Kombi misfortunes, we lost a week of time getting towed back to Fremantle. And, due to COVID, we must now avoid Victoria like the plague.

It seems The Universe doesn’t want us to visit these places this time around. We had planned to visit them on the way out too, but back then the bushfires stopped us. Oh well. It gives us an excuse to come back again for more adventures in the future. Daph thinks we should do it in the summer because South Australia is a torturous ice maiden in the winter.

We usually follow the scenic coastal roads to take in as much of this beautiful country as we can on our travels. But now we are cutting straight through the middle to get home in as little time as possible, ready for Daph to start back at work in just over a week. We drive, stop, eat, sleep, repeat. It doesn’t feel much like Daph and Ern’s Adventures now. But we are so grateful for everything we have experienced so far, and that we get to do it at all.
