Goonies

Brrrrrrrrr!! It’s a chilly six degrees this morning! Ern had us packed up and on the road by 7.30 a.m. because he needed to get out of here before his bollocks froze off. He has got used to the warmer coastal temps, and last night we took a detour slightly inland to visit Capricorn Caves, and the temperature dropped considerably.
On our arrival, we were greeted by two coach loads of excitable school kids on an excursion.
Ern: *Deep sigh... “For f**ks sakes!”
Daph: “I think I prefer the Grey Nomad Griswolds.”
Luckily, they were just packing up, and the pandemonium was quickly brought under control by a scary stern teacher who expertly herded them all onto the coaches and left us with peace and quiet.
We spent the evening getting our inner “Goonies[1]” on and exploring the Capricorn Caves. The highlight was the Cathedral Cave, with natural acoustics that rival the Sydney Opera House. The friendly tour guide asked for a volunteer to test out the acoustics, and Daph was very close to trying out her karaoke skills and bursting into Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer.” She thought better of it and we listened to “Hallelujah” on the tour guide's iPod instead. Truly magical.
They host live concerts and weddings in the Cathedral Cave. It would be a spectacular place to get married if you’re game enough to tackle the rickety stairs in your high heels.
Onwards to Clairview. Get us back to the coast! Daph’s toes are about to snap off.
