Dolphin Day

It’s been a busy week. Daph is slowly finding her feet at work. The staff are wonderful, friendly, and helpful. Which is good, because Daph asks a lot of questions and needs plenty of guidance. Sometimes Daph feels more of a hindrance than a help, but no one makes her feel that way. At least not to her face.

It’s been a mixture of midwifery and nursing for Daph. But no baby catches yet. For the most part, days are spent changing adult nappies, rather than baby nappies. But Daph is quite enjoying looking after the oldies. They sure do appreciate everything you do for them. Daph particularly enjoys having a singsong with the dementia patients, until they tell her to “F**k off” because they don’t like that song, even though they just sang along with Daph, word for word in its entirety.

Ern is now available to work his magic in kinesiology sessions at the local Holistic Healing Centre. But he has been mostly pottering around “home” and working on writing his book[1]. Whilst Daph is hard at work in strange hospitals with mountains of unfamiliar paperwork, earning money to support Ern’s lady-of-leisure lifestyle, Ern is hard at work too. Inside his massive head, he is working on helping the world shift into positivity. Through our experiences in life and his experiences in kinesiology, he has gained an enormous amount of knowledge and wisdom and is itching to share it. He hopes to help others see that life is a gift, and that we are all superheroes waiting to emerge. Daph jokes that this book will be published on his eighty-fifth birthday. Ern doesn’t get much spare time between kinesiology sessions, washing, ironing, preparing dinner, fixing things, and Daph’s incessant urges to keep travelling. Daph is very lucky to have Ern.

Today was Daph’s first day off from work. Daph and Ern spent the day exploring the town. Whyalla is lovely. It’s the neatest town Daph has ever seen. And everyone is so friendly. Six weeks here isn’t going to be any bother at all. Especially when our neighbours include the beautiful dolphins in the marina. The dolphins follow the fishing boats in everyday and hang around the jetty for photo opportunities and to show off their babies. So beautiful. Daph has decided that every day should be dolphin day.

[1] I hadn’t even thought about writing a book at this stage. Azz was the one wanting to become an author and change the world. I wonder if he was meant to plant the seed in my mind.
