The Cape Le Grand Trail is spectacular. It deserves its place in the top-ten bushwalks in Australia. At every turn, there is another magnificent view. The energy and the serenity are out of this world.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have the time, or the fitness level, to tackle the whole walk. They suggest taking two to three days. We only had one day and residual jelly legs following our mountain climbing the previous day. So, we only tackled the “easy” stretch, though this was a hard slog, climbing over the rocky terrain. It was well worth it for the views of the stunning coastline and the whitest sand that blinds you without sunglasses. It’s one of those places that makes you stop, suck it all in, and feel bloody marvellous to be alive. Truly breathtaking.

The lactic acid is now at maximum capacity in Daph’s out-of-practice legs. Ern always tries to help with one of his “feels good, doesn’t it?” therapeutic massages and toe-cracking sessions, after which Daph usually feels worse and slightly nauseous. Bless him. He’s only trying to help.
