Meh!

Bloody hell! The sun is out! Ern potters about...

Ern: “Let’s get everything out in the sun to dry. ASAP!”

Daph: “Who says ASAP?”

Ern: “Well it’s quicker than saying ‘as soon as possible,’ or it would’ve been if I didn’t have to explain to you that it’s quicker. Now I’ve wasted time.”

Today Daph started a six-week midwifery contract at Innisfail Hospital. Innisfail Hospital births fewer babies in a whole year than Daph’s previous place of employment births in one month. Daph thought this would be a lovely change of pace.

To accompany this leisurely work lifestyle, the plan was to walk to and from work to lose some weight and get fit. Ern brought his skateboard along so he could accompany Daph on the walk and skateboard home.

Day One: Ern stacks it... not accounting for his extra weight since he last used a skateboard. He gathered speed on the downhill and couldn’t stop. Jumping off the skateboard, he slipped on the wet grass and landed flat on his back. He collected Daph from work... covered in mud, with grass scuffs up his legs, and the skateboard under his arm. Unperturbed by his stack, he was full of excitement, like a kid with a new toy...

Ern: *Full of beans, “How was your day?”

Daph: *Not sharing Ern’s spritely attitude, “It’s sooooo boring. I need chocolate.”

Ern: *Super chirpy, “Cool. I’ll treat myself to a pizza.”

Daph was cheered up immensely by the hilarity of Ern’s stack, but the miserable day meant she was too “meh” to even eat dinner. Ern ordered a pepperoni pizza. Daph had chocolate biscuits washed down with hot chocolate.
